Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that affects a child’s ability to focus, regulate their impulses, and control their activity levels. Children with ADHD often exhibit behaviors that make it hard for them to sit still, pay attention, or follow instructions. These challenges can significantly affect their performance in school, interactions with peers, and relationships with family members.

Symptoms of ADHD in Children

ADHD symptoms can generally be categorized into inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Children with ADHD may show one or more of these behaviors to varying degrees.

Inattention

Difficulty staying focused on tasks or play activities.
Easily distracted by noises, other activities, or unrelated thoughts.
Frequent mistakes in schoolwork or other tasks due to lack of attention to detail.
Often forgets instructions or forgets to complete tasks.
Trouble organizing tasks and activities.

Hyperactivity

Constant fidgeting or squirming, unable to stay seated in situations like the classroom.
Running or climbing in inappropriate situations (e.g., in the classroom or at the dinner table).
Talking excessively, unable to sit still for long periods.
Difficulty playing quietly or engaging in calm activities.
